- Puree onion, garlic, sugar and pear in a blender with some of the water.
- Combine pureed mixture with the remaining ingredients
- Marinade should cover all of the beef short ribs in a container.
- Marinade for at least 24 hours, up to 3 days.
- Preheat the BBQ and place the marinaded beef short ribs on the BBQ and grill it to your liking.
Tips: You can get the beef short ribs from a butcher as you can get the ribs cut to the desired thickness, in addition they are good cuts (not too much fat).
I got the beef short ribs from St. Lawrence Market. Sometimes I get the Angus Beef ribs from T&T grocery store. make sure not to cut too thick or too thin.
Do not get short ribs from Metro/Loblaws as they are meant for stews not kalbi.
If you use kiwi, puree it with the mixture above in step#1.
If you don't feel like cooking the Korean Kalbi right away, you can put the marinaded Koren Kalbi in a Freezer Bag and put in the freezer until you are ready to BBQ it.
