I love pastries especially cupcakes.  My favorite type of pastries and cupcakes are the ones that are very light and not overly sweet.  This is very hard to find as most of the baked goods are very sweet and or heavy.

I discovered Bonne Journée after spending a day at the beach.  The store is located on Queen street East west of Coxwell.

Bonne Journée, 1576 Queen St. E., 647-686-2911

As I walked by the bakery, I can smell the aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries.  I decided to walk in to check out the pastries.

During my first visit to Bonne Journée, I was surprised to find out that the prices are very reasonable.  So I decided to try out some pastries.  I bought 4 macaroons, a vanilla eclair, Paris Brest (a circle of choux pastry, filled with whipped cream, that was meant to resemble a bicycle wheel).  I was shocked at how light the pastries are.  Great quality and not too sweet!  I really enjoyed the pastries.

I went back to Bonne Journée today (Sep 29, 2013) and bought more pastries.  I saw vanilla cupcake in the window. I have to have it as I have been shopping around for the best cupcakes in Toronto.

To my surprise, the vanilla cupcake is so light and has perfect amount of sweetness.  It has 3 pieces of caramel candies as the toppings on the butter cream icing.  It is so light and tasty!  I have found the 2nd best cupcakes in Toronto.

I also tried out mille-feuille, vanilla slice, custard slice, also known as the Napoleon, is a pastry of French origin.  It was delish!

Another new pastry I tried at Bonne Journée is pumpkin spice tart.  So yummy..

Every piece of pastries here has the right amount of sugar.

I love this bakery.  I will go back again when ever I am in the area.

History of Bonne Journée:

Hitchem Charfi is a Tunisian ex-pat.  Charfi grew up in Sfax, on the Tunisian coast, and came to Toronto at the age of 18.  His cousin owns bakeries in Paris. He quit his job as a credit analyst for AMEX and headed to Paris to learn about the trade.  He then came back to TO and opened Bonne Journée.

The next time I am here, I will definitely try the bread.
