2012 – Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box Gifts – Project of Samaritan’s Purse

2012 National Collection Week is November 19-25

In year 2011, Canadians donated 672,274 shoe boxes packed with gift items like toys, hygiene items and school supplies to children in Haiti, Senegal, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Argentina, Nicaragua, Chile, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Guatemala, and Venezuela.

We surpassed year 2010 total of 640,714 boxes.

Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has collected and hand-delivered more than 94 million shoe box gifts to children in over 130 countries hurt by war, poverty, natural disaster, disease, and famine.

Boxes collected in 2011:

  • 8.6 million worldwide
  • 672,274 from Canada
  • 264,620 from Ontario

Operation Christmas Child is a fun and simple, hands-on project of Samaritan’s Purse that everyone can participate in.  This is a way to share our love and care to the needy children around the world every year.

How to participate:

  • Donations – You can give online by using our “Follow Your Box Donation” option, or you can write a check to Samaritan’s Purse (note “OCC” on memo line)
  • Get employees at your Company, friends and family to participate.  You can pick up empty shoe boxes from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church at  3819 Bloor Street West, Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada,M9B 1K7. Phone: (416) 233-9800

This year, I will be participating in this meaningful event again by getting employees from my Company, my friends and family to pack their own shoe boxes.  Our goal is to bring JOY to 275 Children during Christmas.
